How the Stator and Rotor Work Together in an Stepper Motor?

- In a stepper motor, the stator and rotor move in steps to turn electrical pulses into precise motion.
- The stator has laminated cores with many teeth, each with coil windings. When powered in order, these coils create shifting magnetic poles that form a rotating magnetic field around the rotor.
- The rotor is often composed of laminated steel and may contain soft iron teeth or permanent magnets. It moves step-by-step as it aligns with the stator’s magnetic field.
- Each pulse turns the rotor by a set angle. The close coordination between stator and rotor ensures accurate and repeatable movement. Good lamination, tooth shape, and a small air gap help improve accuracy, reduce vibration, and lower torque ripple.
